Did you know that Amberley Museum was one of the main filming locations for the 1985 James Bond Film 'A View to a Kill'?
In September 1984 locations across Amberley Museum's old Chalk Pits and Quarry Tunnel were transformed into the fictional Main Strike Mine and objects from the Museum's collection took on starring roles in the film.
To find out more join us for a day celebrating the Museum's role in the production of a 'A View to a Kill'.
During the day we will be running the 'Zorin' locomotive and wagons used in the original filming, including the chance to take iconic photos, and some opportunities for visitors to drive the loco.
We will also be running regular guided tours (at 10.30am, 1.30pm & 3.30pm) delving into the detail of how the old Amberley chalk pits were transformed into a filming location nearly 40 years ago.
Speakers from the Shaken not Stirred Fan Club will be joining us to give an interrogation of all things James Bond, followed by a Q&A with Oscar-winning special effects supervisor John Richardson who will discuss the magic behind the scenes at Amberley as well as his other work on Superman, Harry Potter and Aliens.
Dedicated Bond fans won't want to miss the For Your Answers Only James Bond quiz from 2.30pm, to see who is the head of intelligence at Amberley and win some fantastic prizes.
We are also pleased to be welcoming the Aston Martin Club, who will put on a display of some impressive cars throughout the day, and there will be a chance to enjoy live themed music over a glass of something refreshing on the Limeburners terrace.
So why not dress for the occasion and join us for a day exploring a different side to the Amberley story?
