The Cathedral, originally known as the Church of St. Philip Neri, was commissioned by Henry XV Duke of Norfolk in 1868 and was opened on 1st of July 1873.
The architect was Joseph Hansom, inventor of the Hansom Cab. The style of the Cathedral is French Gothic of about 1400.
It was created a Cathedral in 1965 and its dedication was changed to Our Lady and St. Philip Howard in October 1970.
Open everyday 9 am until 6pm and on Christmas Day until noon.
The feast of Corpus Christi and the Carpet of Flowers at Arundel Cathedral is held every year, 60 days after Easter, and there are several wonderful concerts held throughout the year by, among others, The Arun Choral Society. Some events provide free entry to the cathedral, and refreshments, which are served in the Cathedral Hall nearby.
Coach and Car Parking is available in Mill Road and Crown Yard at the bottom of the hill, with drop off /pick up facilities only outside the Cathedral, at the top of the hill.
The cathedral and hall are both wheelchair accessible and toilets (inc. disabled) are available in the hall.
