They are an ideal place to purchase walking maps, visitor guides and gifts and the experienced staff offer visitors unrivalled customer service and access to an extensive range of local, regional and national information. Many also offer services such as accommodation booking, route planning and tickets for theatre and events.
Along with the Tourist Information Centres (TIC's), you will also find Visitor Information Centres (VIC's) which generally serve a large city or town along with its surrounding villages.Tourist Information Points (TIP's) are also a great source of information, they are generally located within a visitor attraction or hotel and provide local area literature.
