The summer holidays are nearly here, six weeks of family fun, with the chance to spend time together, explore new places and try new things.  With no restrictions this year the South East has a packed event calendar to keep you busy all over the summer holidays, so whether you are visiting South East England for your summer holiday, enjoying a day out in the region or planning a weekend break-away, you'll find plenty to keep the family entertained. 

South East England covers the nine counties and as a destination there is a host of outdoor events and indoor activities on offer this summer holiday.  Our online calendar features an ever-growing list, with a mix of events to suit all tastes and budgets, from family friendly activities, informative exhibitions, value added experiences and internationally renowned events, that bring hundreds of visitors to the South East. To find something near you in a specific county, use the links below or try a date search if you are looking for something to fill a quiet day.

  • Head to Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire for the magical Peter Rabbit Garden Adventure, experience a mix of storytelling, live performance and puppetry from the 6th July - 3rd September.
  • Enjoy the hilariously entertaining Crazy for You musical at Chichester Festival Theatre, West Sussex running from the 11th July to the 4th September.
  • Take part in the Dig for Victory campaign at Milestones Museum, Basingstoke, Hampshire and learn how to make a recycled seed pot and try your hand at growing your own food, 23rd July to 4th September.
  • Experience a night under the stars watching the thrilling James Bond movie No Time to Die at Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire with Lunar Cinemas on the 14th July.  A range of films are available from the 14- 17th July. 
  • Head to Odds Farm Park, High Wycombe, Oxfordshire for some amazing outdoor adventures, including sand & water play, entertainment, animal encounters and more.
  • Take to the skies with the new walk 360 at the British Airways i360 Viewing Tower, head out on top of the i360 pod, at 138 metres up and experience the stunning views of Brighton.  Various dates over the summer holidays.
  • It's BRICKOSAURS! Evolution time at Marwell Zoo, Winchester, featuring an all-new collection of dinosaur sculptures throughout the summer, on until 4th September.
  • Pop along to Bekonscot Model Village, Buckinghamshire and visit the worlds oldest original model village... experience a nostalgic walk along memory.
  • Join Whitchurch Silk Mill, Whitchurch, Hampshire on the 9th July for a day of discovery. Learn how they scour the bed of the River Test to discover treasures lost over the centuries and have a go yourself using a glass bottom bucket.
  • Enjoy a tasty fish and chips supper whilst travelling through the picturesque Rother Valley on the Kent & East Sussex Railway, various dates available, 13th July, 10th Aug, 24th Aug & 7th Sept.

When are the Summer Holidays in 2022?

Most schools across the South East break up for the summer holidays on Friday 22nd July 2022 until Thursday 1st September 2022, although some areas and schools do not return until the 5th September.  The summer holidays also include the August Bank Holiday on 29th August, which always sees a host of events, family activities and music festivals running across the destination.  There is plenty to be excited about this summer, and the with the weather forecast looking good too, plan your school summer holiday adventures right here.
