Andover Museum and Museum of the Iron Age

About

Housed in a Georgian town house built in the 1750s, Andover Museum tells the story of the town and its surrounding area from prehistoric times to the present day.

Inside the museum, you’ll discover archaeological finds including a Bronze Age hoard and Saxon grave goods, see a rare medieval ivory figurine of the Virgin and Child and learn about the shocking true story of the 1846 Andover Workhouse scandal. The museum runs an exciting programme of temporary exhibitions, including art, craft, photography, history and more.

Located in the same building, the Museum of the Iron Age tells the story of Danebury Hill Fort, which lies to the south west of Andover and is one of the best studied sites of the British Iron Age. Here, you can find out what life was like for our pre-historic ancestors who farmed, fought, worshipped and died in Wessex over two thousand years ago.

Andover Museum shop sells small gifts and books, and hot drinks and ice creams are also available to purchase.

Free admission.
