Discover the natural diversity and rich culture of The Living Coast a UNESCO World Biosphere in and around Brighton by bike.  A chance to connect and with nature and immerse yourself in the landscape

The bike trails encompass the chalk block of the South Downs, stretching from the River Adur in the west to the River Ouse in the East, with the city of Brighton & Hove at its heart.

Experience the floodplain meadows, river estuaries, rolling chalk hills, white cliffs, shingle beaches, rural villages as well as a vibrant and cosmopolitan city on your journey.

Graded easy, medium and hard, so no matter your ability you will be able to find something that is suitable.

Each ride starts and finishes at Brighton train station and includes:

  • A description of some of the natural and cultural heritage features you will encounter on your ride
  • A GPS route map
  • An idea of places to stop for refreshments on the way
  • Links to bike shops, guiding services and hire facilities in the region
  • Suggestions on linking rides together
  • The website is free to access and use.
  • You can cycle most of the routes throughout the year, and it’s highlighted if this is not the case.
  • Have fun discovering The Living Coast.
