Set within the historic surroundings of Whitchurch Silk Mill, the riverside café offers a welcoming space to relax and enjoy freshly prepared food and drink. Overlooking the River Test and on the site of Britain’s oldest working silk mill, it is the perfect place to pause during your visit or simply meet friends in a unique setting.

We pride ourselves on serving a delicious selection of homemade cakes, light lunches, and seasonal specials, alongside a range of quality teas, coffees and soft drinks. Wherever possible, we source ingredients locally, celebrating the flavours of Hampshire and supporting local producers.

Whitchurch Silk Mill is located on Winchester Street in the centre of Whitchurch, halfway between Newbury and Winchester off the A34. Major access routes within easy reach include the A303, M3 and M4.

From the A303

Leave the A303 for the A34 (Newbury and Winchester). Take the A34 northbound (Newbury and Oxford). After 4 miles leave the A34 for Whitchurch and follow the road into town. Whitchurch Silk Mill is on the left. From London and the M3

Leave the M3 at Junction 8 (The South West and Andover). Take the A303 westbound (The South West and Andover). After 9 miles leave the A303 for the A34 (Newbury and Winchester). Take the A34 northbound (Newbury and Oxford). After 4 miles leave the A34 for Whitchurch and follow the road into town. Whitchurch Silk Mill is on the left. From the south coast and the M3

Leave the M3 at Junction 9 for the A34 northbound (Oxford and the Midlands). After 14 miles leave the A34 for Whitchurch and follow the road into town. Whitchurch Silk Mill is on the left.

Public Transport Directions

By train - South West Trains South West trains from Waterloo to Exeter, via Basingstoke and Salisbury. Most trains stop at Whitchurch. The Silk Mill is 15 minutes' walk from the station, just follow the brown pedestrian signs. There's a bus that brings you to a stop opposite the Mill. • Turn left after the road to the station • Turn right at the main road into Newbury Street • Go down the hill to the centre of town, from where the Mill is signposted.
