A series of monthly online history talks hosted on Zoom and led by Andy Skinner (Learning & Engagement Officer at SeaCity Museum and Tudor House & Garden). All of the talks are designed to be fun, accessible and rooted in the history and archaeology of the city. Each talk will last approximately 1 hour.
Southampton was one of the most bombed towns anywhere in the country. The worst raids occurred in the Autumn and Winter of 1940. In the first of two lectures focusing on Southampton during the Second World War, this talk with explore the build up to the conflict and will look at the terrible blitz of 1940 – 'Southampton's darkest hour'.
