Southampton Water Activities Centre

About

Southampton Water Activities Centre (SWAC) is a purpose-built centre built in 1987, situated in the heart of Southampton's historic waterfront area adjacent to Ocean Village Marina.

The Centre operates on the lower reaches of the River Itchen and Southampton Water offering Sailing and Powerboating activities and shorebased courses for adults, and young people and the education and corporate sectors. The Centre has modern teaching facilities, expert tuition and is recognised and reguarly inspected by the Royal Yachting Association, the Maritime Coastguard Agency and Health & Safety Executive. The Centre owns a comprehensive fleet of boat, lecture rooms, a comfortable lounge and wheelchair access to changing rooms and downstairs classrooms. The fleet, specialist kit and equipment are updated reguarly, inspected and maintained, Due to our modern facilities we are able to cater for sailors with physical and or learning disablilities.

Dinghy Sailing and Powerboating are fantastic water sports which can be enjoyed by everyone no matter who you are. For some SWAC courses is the spring board to a life time of being on the water. We aim to get everyone on the water and give them the opportunity to try this amazing sport. If you would like to have a go at either Sailing or Powerboating we run 3 hour taster sessions most Saturdays from May to September. The Centre will supply all the specialist equipment and clothing to keep you warm and safe. All you need is a pair of non slip shoes which can get you wet. Our fully qualified instructors will give you expert tuition to get you zipping along the water and enjoying yourself in no time in a safe and stimulating environment.
