This Easter, families visiting Windsor Castle can take part in activities celebrating the centenary of Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, the largest and most spectacular dolls’ house in the world.
On every day Windsor Castle is open during the Easter holidays, children can enjoy creative craft activities at the Castle's Learning Centre. There will be a number of Dolls’ House-themed activities on offer, including the opportunity for children to create a collage of Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House Garden as well as designing miniature rooms or even building their own miniature dolls’ house. There will also be the chance for children to make Easter pop-up cards to give to friends and family.
Families can also view special Dolls’ House centenary display in the magnificent Waterloo Chamber. This will allow children to get up close to some of the tiny treasures usually contained within the Dolls’ House and appreciate the extraordinary level of detail lavished on every miniature item. The items range from a tiny grand piano to miniature Crown Jewels with real diamonds. A free family trail challenges children to find both miniature objects and their larger counterparts as they explore the State Apartments.
New miniature books created by top authors to celebrate the Dolls’ House Library are on display throughout the year for visitors to the Castle. These include a miniature The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler and a new work titled The House Mouse by Dame Jacqueline Wilson, as well as a tiny book written by Her Majesty The Queen and many others.
Included with Castle ticket or 1-Year Pass
