Springvale Beach
Bembridge, Seaview, St Helens
Bembridge, Seaview, St Helens
Springvale Beach stretches from Puckpool to Seaview on the north coast of the Isle of Wight and is made up of a mixture of shingle and sand. The beach has great views across the Solent to Portsmouth and the Spinnaker Tower making it the ideal location to watch the boats sailing by. The sea here is very clear and the gradient of the beach makes the water quite shallow at both high and low tide.
This beach is often undiscovered by visitors making it a great place to visit to avoid the crowds in the busy summer months. There is also non- restricted parking for around half of the length of the sea wall, so it works out as one of the best value beaches! The more easterly end of the sea wall is made up from large stone blocks, shaped into an elegant design by the sculptor John Maine. Parking at this end of the beach is chargeable during the day so make sure to buy a ticket.
There are no nearby shops but there is a popular gastro pub, The Boathouse, at the Puckpool end of the beach and also a café at the nearby Puckpool Park.
Top tip
If you are looking to buy food to take to the beach, then check out the cafe in Puckpool Park at the north-western end of the beach. If you are looking to break up your day at the beach Puckpool Park also has a number of great activities such as tennis, mini-golf and some great walks around the old Victorian fortification battery.
Getting There:
Springvale can be accessed by walking all the way along the sea wall from Ryde and Appley, but it is also served by Southern Vectis's number 8 bus. The bus stops at the top of Oakfield Road on the Seaview to Ryde road from which it is a ten minute walk to get to the beach.
