See Southampton

All public activities are suspended until further notice.

See Southampton is a group of freelance guides who are committed to promoting the culture, history and heritage of Southampton. They are instantly recognisable in their red jackets and See Southampton badge. The guides have earned accolades from Trip Advisor and Tourism South East for their work. They are Southampton's only award winning guides.

Southampton is rich in history with the third longest medieval walls in England and with more medieval wine vaults than any other town or city. The Romans, Saxons and Normans are all associated with the City and of course it has always been the point of departure for the British Army. Edward III left from Southampton for Crecy and Henry V for Agincourt. The Docks in Southampton are linked with the great trans Atlantic liners and modern cruising but also played a major and important part in the preparations and embarkation for Normandy on D-Day. Jane Austen also lived in the City as did many of her relations when Southampton was a spa resort. One of the most important events in Southampton's history was the sailing of the Mayflower and Speedwell in August 1620. Many events important to the success of that venture took place in Southampton.

As one person said to one of our guides 'More history than you ever imagined' and another said 'History seems to be around every corner'.

We guarantee that our visitors will be astonished on completion of one of our tours and we are so confident of this that we offer a full refund if anyone is disappointed. See Southampton offer historic walking tours which begin from the lions by the Bargate every weekend and which include a free copy of a plan of Southampton in 1611 and a panorama showing the existing medieval buildings.
