Spacious but still cosy, inside you'll find a beamed snug with wood-burning stove, a rosy-red dining room and glowing dark floorboards. Rich fabrics and heritage colours create a warm background for the constant flow of customers that gather around for a chat or game of cards, while enjoying a glass of real ale from the nearby Rebellion Brewery.

Smell the fragrant herbs wafting from the dining area where imaginative British Colonial cuisine is a big draw. The Head Chef is highly skilled and proud of his enthusiastic team who like to scour the hedgerows and local woodland throughout the seasons for interesting ingredients. Happy to rustle you up a snack or offer something more substantial, nothing is ever too much bother for the bubbly professional staff. Outside are sprawling gardens and a sunny terrace in which you can while away those long spring, summer and early autumn days. Glance above and you might spot a red kite, re-introduced to the Chilterns back in 1989 and now often seen soaring over the pub.
