About

Established in 1929, Bekonscot is the oldest original model village in the world. Set in 1.5 acres of immaculately manicured gardens and finely detailed model buildings the village perfectly captures rural English life in the 1930s. Bekonscot delights visitors of all ages and is perfect for outdoor family adventures with lots to keep your mini explorers entertained.  Whilst here you can:

  • Explore our seven model villages.
  • Enjoy a ride on our 7 1/4" narrow gauge light railway.
  • See the 10 scale miles of our gauge 1 model railway.
  • Discover the pirate themed adventure playground.
  • Relax in our tearoom and enjoy some tasty treats after a busy day of discovery.

Little Known facts about Bekonscot:
1. Bekonscot was the scene of a murder in 2009, when the Midsomer Murders episode, 'Small Mercies' was filmed here.
2. Bekonscot is a charity owned by the Roland Callingham Foundation, to date we have donated over £21m to local worthwhile causes.
3. Enid Blyton's book "Enchanted Village" is based on Bekonscot.
4. There are more than 3,000 Bonsai-style shrubs in the village.
5. From the early 1930s Bekonscot has had many royal visits, including Queen Mary, HM Queen Elizabeth II, HM Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and others.
