After capturing the hearts of Maidenhead audiences with the pure passion of Raíces and earning award nominations for her deeply reflective, multidisciplinary production La Rebeldía del Silencio (The Rebellion of Silence), Rebeca Ortega returns to the Courtyard Stage with an entirely new creative vision.
This special Preview Showcase acts as a live artistic laboratory. Beyond Borders takes the foundational mastery of her previous works and pushes them into uncharted territory. If Raíces mapped out the sacred origins of flamenco, and Silences explored internal dialogue and societal noise, this new work breaks free from all physical and conceptual constraints. It is an exploration of flamenco without barriers, where traditional rhythms (palos) merge seamlessly with contemporary theatrical staging and innovative choreographic structures.
Accompanied by a live ensemble of exceptional Spanish musicians featuring deep, soul-stirring vocals (cante) and masterfully intricate guitar arrangements, Rebeca invites the audience directly into her creative process. Performed in an intimate theatre setting, this performance offers a unique opportunity to witness the raw, unedited evolution of a world-class flamenco company before the production lands on the major European festival circuits.
