Alan Barnes is a prolific international performer, composer, arranger, bandleader and touring soloist. He is best known for his work on the clarinet, alto sax and baritone sax, where he combines formidable virtuosity with a musical expressiveness and collaborative spirit that have few peers.
He has released more than thirty albums as a leader and co-leader and his session and sideman credits include Björk, Bryan Ferry, Michel Legrand, Clare Teal, Westlife, Jools Holland and Jamie Cullum. His distinctive musicianship, indefatigable touring and warm rapport with audiences have made him uniquely popular in British jazz. He has received more than 25 British Jazz Awards.
