The world's premier 10-mile event returns to Southsea seafront in October 2024 - with a 5k event taking place on Saturday before the main event kicks off on Sunday. Entries to the race are now available.
The AJ Bell Great South Run is a flat, fast course along paved routes for the entire duration - which means it's perfect for setting a new personal best. The route will also take runners past some of Portsmouth's best scenery, including the Spinnaker Tower, Southsea Seafront and through Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (past Nelson's flagship HMS Victory).
It's not all about the big event, though. There are a number of other races taking part across the weekend, to suit all ages and abilities.
Saturday plays host to the Great South Run 5k, which welcomes those just getting into running or who feel the 10 mile route is now a little too much. It's a great entry into distance running - and there's not a hill in sight!
On top of all this, a number of high-profile guests descend on Southsea for the event. Celebrity participants have, in previous years, included Hugh Dennis and Iwan Thomas. There's also a number of famous faces pulling the starting trigger for both events, with previous guests including CBBC's Radzi and Team GB Olympian Lizzie Yarnold.

09:30 Assembly Zone opens for fast paced club runners and orange wave

This year the Gosport Ferry is offering a new 'Park & Float' ticket, which includes a (discounted) combined parking, bus and ferry ticket - offering a convenient way to get to the Great South Run.
The ferry arrives at the Hard Interchange in Portsmouth so is only a short walk or jog to the race at Southsea Common. It runs every 15 minutes from 5.30am to 11pm every day (including the Saturday and Sunday of the race weekend).
