At this special weekend event, we will be joined by 10 living history re-enactment groups who will be around our 45-acre site among our historic buildings, depicting different wartime periods throughout Britain's history, covering Medieval, English Civil War, Napoleonic War, WW1 and WW2.
There will be a number of civilian and military living history camps, an apothecary, and wartime military headquarters where you can discover what life was like on the home front, how the soldiers lived and what medicines were available.
Throughout the day you can watch a variety of displays such as warbow, warhorse training display (including skill-at-arms and mounted combat), gun and catapult firing displays, drills, and troop training sessions.
Jeep, Jump, Jive will also be on-site showing off their 1940s Lindy-hop and inviting visitors to join in and learn a few steps.
On the Saturday, there will be the opportunity to listen to a talk by Ben Wilberforce, author of Furze; Sweethearts and Swan Songs. The book is a retelling of Ben's great-grandfather's hand-written diary he kept during WWI. It intertwines the cruel realities of war and the contrast of a soldier's first love.
