Hook Norton Brewery

About

Brewing since 1849 in their 5 storey Victorian Tower Brewery, Hook Norton Brewery is a proudly independent family owned, sixth generation brewery that takes the very best of it’s brewing heritage and combines it with a thoroughly modern approach to create a range of cask, keg and bottled ales. Brewing on the same site; still housed in the original buildings, Hook Norton is the place to experience the unique sights, sounds and smells of a historic brewery at work and share in their passion and commitment to beer.

What can I see and do at Hook Norton Brewery?

TAKE A TOUR OF A UNIQUE BREWERY
The tour starts off in the brewery museum then you set off with one of our team of experienced guides. Walking through the original brew house built in 1898 you will experience sights, smells and sounds of a traditional brewery, as well as the modern additions. Take the time to ask any of the staff what they are up to and why! Finishing off at the brewery bar for a guided tasting.

MEET THE SHIRE HORSES
There are few better sights than one of Hook Norton’s beautiful shire horses, stamping its feet and snorting on a cold winter’s morning, fully harnessed to pull its loaded dray through local Cotswold villages and country lanes. These wonderful ‘workhorses’ have been an integral part of brewery life since its founding day back in 1849 and for many, many years were the reliable backbone of its delivery system. At present, the Brewery has three heavy horses, Shire horses Nelson and Lucas, accompanied by our Clydesdale Commander. Our horses live the life of luxury onsite in their purpose built stables accompanied by 18 acres of rolling Cotswold countryside for them to graze at their leisure.

SAMPLE SOME GREAT HOOKY BEERS
Our bar stocks all the Hook Norton Brewery beers for you to try including seasonal and special unique brews. You can try before you buy to taste something different or new.

STOCK UP IN THE SHOP AND RELAX IN. OUR MALTHOUSE CAFE
Our Brewery Shop is stocked full of our full range of beers, lagers, ciders, wines, spirits, merchandise and tasty treats from our Delicatessen. Hungry? Our Malthouse Cafe is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Afternoon Tea serving a great range of homemade food and of course beer!

EXPLORE THE STEAM ENGINE
One of the last working examples of a brewery steam engine in the UK. It is up and running on the first Saturday of the month. An amazing, emotive sight from yesteryear.

VISIT THE MUSEUM
Enjoy free entry to our brewery museum that holds many curiosities and historical items including photos of the family and building works, brewing equipment, models, and traditional machinery.
