The UK is a nation of animal lovers and the range of wildlife parks and zoos in South East England would have Noah needing to build another ark!

Get closer than ever before with unique experiences at safari parks and see how our zoos are leading the way in conservation to ensure these wonderful creatures can thrive for many years to come.

Zoos in Kent

Howletts Wild Animal Park near Canterbury and Port Lympne Reserve near Folkestone are specifically designed to protect and breed endangered species with the aim of returning them to their natural habitats. Howletts is regarded as a breeding sanctuary for some of the most rare and endangered species in the world and prides itself on its large enclosures.

Port Lympne is home to Kent's only safari experience with close access to animals from the safari truck at feeding times. The watering hole isn't the only refreshment on-site since becoming Europe's first animal focused holiday destination for short breaks.

Zoos in London

Chessington World of Adventures is one of the UK's most well-known attractions and with good reason. Visitors to this South London zoo can come face-to-face with more than 1,000 species including lions, tigers and gorillas. The daily sea lion show is one not to be missed!

Eagle Heights Wildlife Park in Dartford is a not-for-profit organisation with an extensive conservation and breeding programme. Expect to find birds of prey, meerkats, reptiles and even siberian huskys.

Zoos in Sussex

Drusillas Park in East Sussex is a fun finding out day out for all the family! Widely regarded as the best small zoo in Europe, Drusillas offers a home to over one hundred different animal species.

One of the UK's best zoos for domestic animals and informative keeper talks is the British Wildlife Centre on the Surrey/Sussex border. It's home to more than 40 species of wildlife native to the UK from red deer and owls to otters and wildcats.

From otters to owls, mongoose to mice and parrots to pigs, there are so many animals to learn about, a visit to Tilgate Nature Centre is not to be missed!

Zoos in Hampshire

Marwell Zoo near Winchester is famous for its wetsuit wearing penguin Ralph, but this spacious wildlife park is home to white rhino, tigers, hippos as well as a giraffe house and viewing point giving close access to these beautiful creatures. Marwell's land train lets you conveniently explore the park at your leisure without having to walk too far.

The Hawk Conservancy Trust is a visitor centre and conservation charity that works in the fields of conservation, education, rehabilitation and research of birds of prey. It boasts some of the best flying displays you can wish to find including demystifying vultures and the powerful kick of a secretary bird.

Animal & Wildlife Parks in South East England

For a unique animal experience, come eye-to-eye with 12 species of crocodile at Crocodiles of the World in Oxfordshire with underwater viewing and feeding displays.

In Berkshire, Newbury's Living Rainforest provides an ideal animal attraction for rainy days. This unique conservation project consists of two rainforest climates in 20,000 square feet of glass where animals such as lizards and sloths roam free.
