Discover Memory Library, a new artist-led pop-up museum bringing together contemporary art, film, immersive technology and community storytelling to explore how we remember, share stories and connect in an increasingly digital world.
Created by Portsmouth artist and creative director Thomas Buckley, Memory Library invites visitors to explore thought-provoking artworks, experience international films, take part in creative workshops and share memories of their own. Bringing together local communities and artists from around the world, the project asks how technology can help preserve our stories while keeping human connection at the heart of everything we do.
Visitors can take part in Recollect Together, a series of conversations designed to bring people from different backgrounds together to exchange memories, experiences and perspectives. There will also be opportunities to contribute a personal memory, note or letter to an evolving archive celebrating the people and stories that pass through Memory Library.
The project's Resonate artist development programme will showcase new work by emerging Portsmouth artists, exploring memory, heritage and the creative possibilities of technology. Alongside this, visiting artists from Bangladesh, Egypt, Lebanon and Malta will share their work and lead workshops in filmmaking and video art, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and collaboration.
A curated programme of international and art films will run throughout the exhibition, alongside contemporary artworks.
Part of the Portsmouth100 programme and We Shine Community, Memory Library offers a welcoming space to discover new art, exchange stories and reflect on what connects us.
