Chess takes centre stage on the Isle of Wight between the 16 - 22 February 2026 when the Wightlink Isle of Wight Chess Tournament takes place in Ryde.
With over 30 chess masters taking part, it promises to be a spectacular week of chess. The tournament is set to shine a spotlight on the growing prominence of chess across the UK.
The top boards will play in Ryde School Theatre, where you will be able to sit just a few metres away in comfortable theatre seating and watch all of the action unfold. With chess enjoying a surge in popularity, this is the perfect chance to witness world-class talent and engage with the game on a deeper level.

Tickets are on sale and you can purchase them online. Your ticket includes a hot drink from the on-site catering team.
There is a large and free car park at the school and it's very close to ferry services, and is on the main bus route. The tournament will be in the heated main sports hall. Snacks and drinks can be purchased in the Theatre before play where you can view the live commentary on a large screen.
