About

Dinosaur Isle's annual fun day returns this Sunday (26 February), with a full day of free activities and new exhibits.

Since its last open day in 2020, five new species of dinosaur have been recognised within the museum's collection and are now displayed alongside its already impressive exhibit.

Discover other new finds from experienced palaeontologists and geologists from the museum and get answers to your dinosaur queries.

The day will also include model painting, face painting, competitions, arts and crafts as well as lots of other heritage organisations displaying and leading exciting activities, including Brading Roman Villa, Isle of Wight Metal Detecting Club, Isle of Wight Natural History and Archaeological Society, the Isle of Wight Heritage Service and Arc Consulting.

Find out about the Island in days gone by with the Isle of Wight Bus Museum which is bringing along a vintage bus.

Discover more about the importance of the Island in the Creative Biosphere Project with The Island Collection and learn the significance of conservation with displays from The Wildheart Trust.

Councillor Jonathan Bacon, Cabinet member with responsibility for museums, said: "With 20 different groups and activity providers, it’s sure to be a fun day.

"Events like this help to ensure our children and young people are aware of our unique Island heritage."

Head to Dinosaur Isle, Culver Parade, Sandown, between 10am and 4pm (last admission 3pm) on Sunday 26 February.
