Reculver Beach

About

The small, tranquil beach at Reculver is the perfect place to relax and admire the stunning Kent coastline.

Once used as a testing site for the World War II bouncing bomb this shingle beach is now a haven for those looking for a peaceful hideaway in the rural setting of the Reculver Country Park. In the park there is a fascinating visitor centre highlighting the great archeological, historical, and conservation value of the area. Key features of this beach are its imposing 12th century towers and Roman fort. This is a magnificent spot for a picnic with its secluded grassy area and stunning views out to sea.

The 12th century Reculver towers of the ruined church stand amid the remains of an important Roman 'Saxon Shore' fort and a Saxon monastery. They are an imposing landmark and Scheduled Ancient Monument that can be seen across the coastline from Herne Bay to Birchington in Kent.
