About

Itchen Valley Country Park is set in 440 acres of beautiful water meadows, woodland and meadows situated beside the River Itchen and has been recognised with seventeen Green Flag Awards® Located between Southampton and Eastleigh, it is ideal budget-friendly choice for a family day out offering lots of wide open green spaces, walking and cycling trails.  Alongside five outdoor play areas, one free indoor play area - open from 10am until 4.30pm, Woodland Cafe and Go Ape with axe throwing aswell as tree top challenges. 

The park recently completed a major £3.3 million transformation with a range of exciting improvements for visitors to enjoy! 

Parking at Itchen Valley Country Park

We are now ticketless! 

On arrival your number plate will be read, and the entry barrier will lift.

When it’s time to go home, visit a pay station by the café or at the top of the drive, enter your car number plate and pay for your parking.

You have 10 minutes to leave the car park after making payment.

All parking income goes directly into managing and maintaining Itchen Valley Country Park.

Blue Badge Holders 

Usual charges apply and there are dedicated Blue Badge bays located within the car parks.

All permits, including annual permits can be bought at the pay stations once inside the park.

Nearest major road is M27. Off A27, M27 jct 5. Follow brown tourist signs.

Public Transport Directions

Nearest station is Southampton Park Way. Regular bus service to A27 from Eastleigh then approximately 10 minutes' walk.

Opening Times

Itchen Valley Country Park (1 Jan 2026 - 31 Dec 2026)*

* Gates open at 5.30am everyday (including Christmas day).

From 1 October to 31 March (GMT) gates are locked at 6.30pm.

From 1 April to 30 September (BST) gates are locked at 8.30pm

Toilets are open from 9.30am - 4.30pm each day.

All buildings are closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day but the park is open as usual.
