The Five Arrows Hotel is a Grade II listed building at the gates of Waddesdon Manor built on the site of an old coaching inn. Its name is derived from the Rothschild family emblem of a shield surmounted by five arrows, pointing upward and tied with a ribbon.
The Five Arrows Hotel began as the Marlborough Arms Inn before it was bought by Ferdinand in 1874 as part of the Waddesdon Estate. By 1877, it had been renamed The Five Arrows, reflecting the Rothschild family crest. In 1887, Ferdinand commissioned a new building to accommodate the architects, craftsmen and artisans working on the Manor itself.
The new building was designed by architects/builders, W. Taylor & Son of Bierton, who lived locally in Bierton; in their own ‘authentic’ English style of half timbering, elaborate Elizabethan chimney stacks, and wrought ironwork. Architecturally it is one of the most striking buildings in the village.
Today, the Five Arrows is a popular boutique hotel with 16 bedrooms and a newly refurbished holiday cottage. We offer contemporary luxury whilst still retaining its historic character.
The hotel restaurant is now also a destination in its own right; we recently retained our 2 AA Rosettes.

Take the A41 Bicester Road out of Aylesbury to the village of Waddesdon. Go through the village, past the Fire Station on your left, Continue along road, pub The Lion on your right and just after is the entrance to The Five Arrows on your left.
