Duke of Marlborough

About

The Duke of Marlborough is ideally situated on the edge of historic Woodstock at the gateway to the Cotswolds and with the birthplace of Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace, almost next door. This quaint, stone building was acquired by the current owners 14 years ago and since has evolved into a, justly deserved, AA 4-star traditional country inn with lots of character and a warm welcome for all.

Nothing is too much trouble for the hard-working friendly staff. The wooden-beamed bar is warmed by a roaring log fire, pretty wall lights illuminate the restaurant, and tasteful trinkets hang from exposed Cotswold Stone walls.

Accomplished chefs make everything on the premises using local produce where possible, including desserts and cakes that are available every day. Beautifully prepared and presented time after time, the basis for the long standing reputation for excellent food. There is a main seasonal menu alongside weekly specials, sensational steaks and fantastic fish dishes. A fine selection of wines is available to complement your meal.

You may like to stay in one of the 13 purpose-built, motel style rooms to the rear – seven on the ground floor with wheelchair access – which provide an ideal base from which to explore Oxford, Stratford Upon Avon or the Cotwsolds. In a variety of styles, these rooms are all a generous size, comfortably decorated and spotlessly clean, and have large modern bathrooms.
