In Didcot, the family-friendly Steam Gala returns to Didcot Railway Centre (11 - 13 September), ahead of the festive Steam into Christmas event in December. At Blenheim Palace, Dinosaurs Are Forever is a must see, featuring five monumental dinosaur articulated sculptures until 1 November, while Terror on the Thames in Henley-on-Thames offers free family-friendly Halloween fun on 30 October. 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Agatha Christie’s death, with Wallingford Museum hosting a special exhibition exploring her connection to the town. Autumn is also a great time to visit Hook Norton Brewery and discover how the hops and grains harvested at this time of year are transformed into beer, before enjoying local food and drink at the Malthouse Kitchen.
