Get your skates on this festive season, as the city’s popular seasonal rink, Portsmouth On Ice, returns to Guildhall Square. Don't miss this magical season of fun on real ice, from Saturday 21 November 2026 until Sunday 3 January 2027.
Each skate session runs for one full hour and the rink will be open every day (except for Christmas Day). As before, as well as the regular skating sessions there are dedicated slots for families, those with additional needs, and the return of live DJ sessions (detailed below).
The rink is covered by a clear canopy, allowing for top-notch ice conditions and skating fun whatever the weather.
Sunday – Wednesday: First session 9am, last session from 8pm
Thursday – Saturday: First session 9am, last session from 9.15pm
This year the ice rink will be opening earlier on more days and offering quieter sessions during all of the 9am to 10am time slots. During these sessions capacity will be limited to approximately 40 people.
These will take place from 11am to 12pm every weekday
Due to popular demand, organisers have introduced dedicated SEND sessions, for those needing a quieter, slower paced skate. They will span across weekdays and weekends.
Back by popular demand are the DJ nights, featuring some special guests spinning tunes from rink side. See the Portsmouth on Ice social channels for information on who's appearing across the dates and note that others may be added over the coming weeks, so check back regularly for full updates,
Make the most of your trip to the ice rink and enjoy some hot food and drink at the nearby bars and restaurants, or by taking a short walk to Commercial Road, where the Christmas Market will return for 2026.
