The Lamb is everyone's dream of what an ancient English Inn should be, but with modern comforts, excellent service and award winning food. Outside there is a stunning courtyard and walled garden, ideal for dining al fresco in the warmer months.
The Lamb dates back to the 15th century and to step inside is to step back in history: the flagged floors, the gleaming copper, brass and silver reflecting the flicker of log fires, the antiques with the glow of age. Snug in its mellow Cotswold stone, the inn sits in a tranquil setting in Sheep Street, with its fine architecture and wide grass verges and is an easy amble from the heart of the town. Whether you are considering visiting us for the first time or are one of the many guests who return regularly, you can be assured of a warm welcome and that every care will be taken to make your stay enjoyable.
Burford, nestling on a hillside above the Windrush Valley, is known as the Gateway to the Cotswolds. Visitors come to relax and potter up and down the High Street, with its fine medieval buildings and inviting shops or, further afield, the colleges of Oxford, the treasures of Blenheim Palace or the exquisite National Trust Gardens at Hidcote.
For the more energetic there are walks with stunning views or why not explore the area by bicycle or on horseback? A round of golf, a day at the races or a leisure trip on the river are all on hand nearby. However, for many visitors the best part of being in the Cotswolds is simply driving along the secluded lanes and leaving the car to explore footpaths and bridleways and discover the charm of some of the most attractive countryside and villages in England.
A meal in our pretty pillared restaurant is a treat not to be missed, whether you are starting the day or rounding off the day with a candlelit dinner. The lounges are furnished with antiques and comfortable armchairs and sofas. What could be nicer on a cold winter's day than to curl up with a favourite book in front of a blazing log fire, or step into the cosy bar and join the locals for a glass of real ale.
Family rooms, 1 bed and 2 bed suites, and single occupancy rooms are all available.
