Wiston Estate Winery

About

Nestled in the heart of England’s rolling South Downs in West Sussex, the beautiful Wiston Estate has been owned and managed by the Goring family since 1743 and is presided over today by Harry and Pip Goring. It was Pip’s long-held belief that the estate held the potential to grow high quality grapes and the 16-acre vineyard, lying on a south-facing chalk escarpment reminiscent of Champagne, is the fruit of her dream and tenacity. Under the guidance of winemaker Dermot Sugrue, the tight-knit team produces award-winning sparkling wines of exceptional purity and finesse from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Today the winery is open for tours and tastings which take in the winery and production zone and finish with a tutored tasing of the award-winning wines, while Chalk Restaurant serves up delicious seasonal and locally sourced dishes in the beautiful setting of a refurbished barn, which also boasts a suntrap courtyard for alfresco dining. The restaurant is open for breakfasts and lunches Tuesday to Sunday, while on Friday and Saturday evenings they curate a set menu sourced locally throughout the week for those looking for a special dinner.

Chalk Express is also open Friday to Sunday serving up toasted sandwiches, ice creams and takeaway coffees for those looking for a pit stop on a South Downs walk.
