Established in the twentieth century, Winkworth arboretum has now been maintained by the National Trust for 60 years and has built up a collection of more than 1,000 different shrubs and trees, many of them rare.
Visit any time of year for a delightful stroll through the personal plant collection of one man, whose passion for shrubs and trees shines through at every turn. The Collection and setting are too unique to ever disappoint.
The most impressive displays are in spring, with magnolias, bluebells and azaleas, and autumn, when the colour of the foliage is stunning. The Arboretum becomes a haven of tranquillity in winter, and in the summer it is an ideal place for family days out and picnics.
Each summer the Arboretum runs a series of family-friendly activities to help keep everyone entertained, the woodland play area is open daily for letting off some steam and the wide open spaces are great for exploring and connecting with nature.
Tours and demonstrations: Tours, included with admission, of the arboretum are set on specific days. Every second Wednesday of the month at 2pm and every last Friday of the month at 11am. Please check out the website Winkworth Arboretum | Surrey | National Trust for further information.
