Silverhand Estate
Set amidst the rolling hills of the Kent countryside, Silverhand Estate is a true hidden treasure, where natural beauty meets centuries of heritage. Pioneering a new chapter in English sparkling wine, we are proud to cultivate the UK’s largest single organic vineyard—an extraordinary expanse of over 900 acres.
Our home lies in Luddesdown, Kent, and our name honours King Lud, the first-century ruler of the Trinovantes, founder of London, and revered God of Protection and Prosperity. Legend tells that after losing his hand in battle, he was restored to strength and dignity with a silver hand—an enduring symbol of resilience and renewal that inspires our estate today.
Sustainable and Ethical Practices
Nestled within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we are deeply committed to safeguarding the land we call home. Our dedicated conservation team works year-round to nurture biodiversity, ensuring that wildlife, flora, and fauna flourish in harmony with our vineyards. Protecting the environment is not just our responsibility—it is at the heart of everything we do.
Organic Farming
Our organic farming philosophy embraces sustainability, prioritising the health of the soil and the environment. Livestock play an essential role in this ecosystem, supporting natural fertilisation, pest control, and soil vitality.
Through these practices, Silverhand Estate continues to honour tradition while shaping a sustainable future for English sparkling wine.
Children are able to join our walking tour during the summer seasons, but are not permitted on the other tours.
There are three roads into the heart of the vineyard:
Cobham:
Exit the A2 at the Cobham Junction onto Halfpenny Lane, leading onto Cobhambury Road. Take the right turning at the end of the road onto Luddesdown Road, continue forward until you reach the Silverhand Estate cellar door. Cuxton:
On the A228, turn onto Bush Road at the crossroads in Cuxton. Continue forwards onto Warren Road, and then Luddesdown Road until you reach the estate. Meopham:
From the A227, turn onto The Street in Meopham and follow the road down into the heart of Luddesdown, eventually joining Luddesdown Road. (This is not suitable for large vehicles and HGVs).
