Shoreham Beach

Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, BN43 5LY
Part of Shoreham Beach

Shoreham Beach is a designated Local Nature Reserve (LNR) supporting large areas of vegetated shingle – an extremely rare and fragile habitat with a very limited distribution in Great Britain.

It is in close proximity to an RSPB reserve and is an important roosting area for birds. Additionally, at the eastern end of the beach is Shoreham Fort, a designated Scheduled Ancient Monument completed in 1857.

The Local Nature Reserve is home to approximately 90 species of plant, many of which come into bloom in late May/early June. However, Shoreham Beach is as much about people as wildlife and has a wide variety of users, many of which are involved in the management and care of the LNR.
