East Dean & Friston

About

East Dean & Friston villages, including the smaller hamlets of Birling Gap and Crowlink, are situated within the South Downs National Park on the dramatic and beautiful coastline of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters, which was recently voted as being one of the UK's most iconic views. Surrounded by the inspiring and open landscape of the Downs it is a haven for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and all those who enjoy breathtaking scenery and historic buildings.

The oldest part of East Dean village includes a Norman Church and a pretty village green surrounded by flint and oak cottages on which village events and fêtes are held. The village boasts the renowned Tiger Inn and a variety of shops including a delicatessen, tea rooms, post office & general store. There is also a regular farmers' market and a chance to visit the Seven Sisters Sheep Centre and Friston Pond, which is registered as an Historic Monument and sits alongside another, but smaller Saxon church.

Adjacent to the well equipped and modern village hall is a large free car park; further (pay and display) parking is available at the National Trust Birling Gap Café located on the South Downs Way.

Good public transport links from Eastbourne and Brighton enable easy access to some of the best walking and coastline in Britain.
