To celebrate 50 years of preserving and celebrating the Chilterns, Chiltern Open Air Museum is hosting a special exhibition exploring the story of our local area from past to present.

From hillforts to HS2, red kites to railways, and chalk to canals, discover the people, places and changes that have shaped the Chilterns and explore what makes this landscape so distinctive.

The exhibition also places Chiltern Open Air Museum within its wider surroundings, showing how the historic buildings, stories and traditions preserved here are connected to the landscape and communities of the Chilterns.

Whether you live locally or are discovering the area for the first time, Welcome to the Chilterns offers an engaging introduction to the history, character and changing landscape of this special part of the country.
