Twelfth Nigh

About

Split by a shipwreck, twins Viola and Sebastian unravel a prank-filled plot like no other as they join some of the Bard's liveliest characters. Amidst the celebrations of Twelfth Night, Viola falls into a love triangle as Orsino and Olivia become infatuated with her; the problem being that Viola is disguised as her brother! But can all be forgiven when a harmless prank involving a letter and colourful attire imprisons the vengeful Malvolio?

Bowler Crab produced Twelfth Night in 2014 and again in 2018. Armed with fresh approaches from over a decade of touring Shakespeare across the UK, Bowler Crab returns to an old favourite as production 34 sets sail in June 2025.

Facilities at The Mermaid Inn:

All performances are indoors.

Allocated seating in comfy padded seats.

A bar with alcoholic, hot and soft drinks will be provided by The Mermaid in the auditorium itself.

Toilet facilities are available.

Steps lead to the toilets.

Mermaid Street is a squeeze.

Please park elsewhere in Rye to make your way on foot to The Mermaid, we'd recommend the cattle market carpark near the station.

The Mermaid Inn is not fully wheelchair friendly due to the age of the building.

The building structure means steps, narrow doorways, narrow corridors and uneven flooring need to be navigated.

If you have mobility issues, we recommend exploring some of our other venue options.
