A man in a winter coat is stood by a large wooden chair in a park. He is reading aloud and holding a book in his hand.

About

Take a guided tour around the village with our expert guide Michael.

He'll show you some of the places that inspired the books, including Matilda's library and Sophie's orphanage from The BFG. While you wander, he'll read extracts from the books featuring some fantastic – if slightly naughty – TRICKS.

Find out about newts in water jugs, pheasants in prams and dead mice in sweet jars. Don't try any of this at home, though — you have been warned!

  • Times: 11.45am and 2.15pm
  • For age 6 and up
  • £5 per person in addition to Museum entry.

Booking
We recommend booking in advance as spaces are limited.

The route
The walk lasts about 45 minutes taking you through the village of Great Missenden on paths and pavements, with one stretch across a playing field. There are lots of stops for readings from Roald Dahl's books along the way. Best suited to children over 5 and not suitable for buggies.
