Jack in the Green Festival

About

A festival of Morris and other traditional dance with visiting teams from all over England and Europe. Jack of the Green takes place on the May Day Bank Holiday Monday with music, dance, singing and street entertainment and the traditional crowning of the May Queen.

Since its revival in the 1980s it is now one of its largest and most colourful events in Hastings. Look out for waves of green throughout the town with a grand procession that leads the giant foliage-covered Jack through the Old Town and up to the West Hill, where he is eventually 'slain' and the spirit of summer is released!

Hastings Jack in the Green is a hugely popular event so please make travel arrangements accordingly.

Better still, make a long weekend of it  and enjoy this wonderful welcome to summer.
