In 1348, King Edward III adopted St George, soldier and martyr, as the patron saint of the royal chapel in the Castle. He created a group that prayed daily for the monarch and for the new Order of The Garter. This was a new group of special knights chosen by the king. St George's coat of arms (a red cross on a white background) and images of the saint slaying the dragon, abound around the Castle.
Included as part of your visit to Windsor Castle this summer, enjoy some creative crafting at Windsor Castle's Learning Centre. Children can create little dragons as a memento before heading to the Castle to hunt for naughty, hiding dragons. Activities take place throughout the local school holidays, 09:30 - 15:30, to keep your little ones busy.
While touring the State Apartments remember to use the family trail to learn more about St George and the Castle (and also to help find the unruly dragons). You can print these off usng the links on the Royal Collection website. Feel free to download and enjoy the other dragon related activities too.
Included in Castle ticket or 1-Year Pass
