See the magnificent State Apartments after the Castle has closed its doors to visitors for the day as part of an Exclusive Guided Tour.

In the company of an expert guide, you will discover the history of the Castle, including how William the Conqueror’s wooden Castle was rebuilt by Edward III as a stone fortress with magnificent apartments, how Charles II set out to rival the Versailles of his cousin Louis XIV, while George IV filled the rooms with outstanding works of art and gave Windsor Castle its famous skyline.

Useful information

  • The experience lasts around 2.5 hours and includes a complimentary guide book.
  • The guided tour is in English only.
  • Tickets must be pre-booked. There is limited availability, with a maximum number of 30 places on each tour.
  • Your ticket can be converted into a 1-Year Pass for unlimited standard admission to Windsor Castle. A £2 transaction fee will apply when pre-booking a return visit.
  • Please note that St George's Chapel and Queen Mary's Dolls' House are not included on these tours.
