Get into the festive spirit at the Christmas Lights Switch-On and Market 2026, a magical community celebration taking place in the heart of Alton on Friday 27 November 2026. Bringing together twinkling lights, festive entertainment, Christmas shopping and family activities, this much-loved event marks the official start of the Christmas season in the town.
Running from 3pm to 7pm, visitors can enjoy an afternoon and evening packed with seasonal cheer, making it a perfect festive outing for families, friends and visitors of all ages.
The highlight of the event is the annual Christmas lights switch-on, transforming the town into a festive wonderland.

Market Square: 5.45pm
Browse a variety of Christmas market stalls located throughout the town, including the Assembly Rooms, High Street, Cross and Pillory Lane and the new Sparkle Christmas Vegan Village on Market Street. Visitors can shop for festive gifts, handmade crafts, toys, seasonal treats and much more while supporting local businesses and charities.
This family-friendly Christmas event features plenty of entertainment and activities to keep everyone entertained throughout the afternoon and evening.
