Petersfield Physic Garden

About

A green oasis in the heart of the charming historic market town of Petersfield.  The Petersfield Physic Garden is owned privately but open to visitors to enjoy for free.

Located just of the High Street, this long narrow garden is small space is step away from the hustle and bustle of the town. With its formal herb beds, topiary, rose arch and informal orchard, this walled garden is a lovely space to sit back and listen. Designed into three sections, it was created after the owner, Major John Bowen gave the space to Petersfield as place to protect the plants and green space.

Today, the garden contains over 100 plants that were used for medicinal purposes back in the 17th Century, box hedges, heritage apples and wild spring plants such as cowslips and primroses. Look out for beautiful sundial, the spring daffodils, Italian cypress and walls of yew.

Located in East Hampshire within the South Downs National Park, Petersfield is a thriving town whose history dates back to 12th Century. Situated off the A3 that links Portsmouth to London this thriving town not only offers a great place to visit with its range of shops, cafe's and outdoor spaces to explore.
