About

Earley is a town and civil parish in the English county of Berkshire and lies some 2 miles  south and east of central Reading.

Evidence of prehistoric man has been found in several locations around Earley and most of these finds are thought to date from the late Paleolithic period, around 35,000 years ago.

Despite its generally 19th and 20th century appearance Earley has some remnants of its older past hidden in amongst the newer development.

Things to do in Earley

Earley is home to a Day Centre for any older person or disabled person to stop and have a cup of tea, a chat and join in an activity.

Or why not visit the Earley retreat, situated in the heart of the town, the friendly pub always has great beers at refreshing prices, tasty food and plenty of warm smiles on offer.

Bulmershe Park is situated off Woodlands Avenue on the boundary between Woodley and Earley and is jointly managed by the two Town Councils.

Marefield Pond is one of the few surviving examples of the farm ponds, of which there were once quite a few in Earley. Earley Town Council acquired it under licence from Wokingham Borough Council with the intention to save and preserve the facility some years ago.
