Winchester Poetry Festival is a biennial festival that aims to be a round table for poetry where everyone is welcome – a hub for poetry locally, nationally and internationally. The 2023 Festival (13 – 15th October 2023) has a focus on the diversity and creativity of the languages of the UK – from Bengali to Cornish, Welsh to Black Country dialect – with performances to inspire and entertain all ages.
With varied entry points (online/live streamed and in person), workshops, childrens’ events, panels, pop-ups and headline readings, Winchester Poetry Festival 2023 will highlight the richness of the UK’s linguistic traditions and innovative poets, from our competition judge Zaffar Kunial, to family favourite John Hegley. Featuring Menna Elfyn, Matthew Hollis, Luke Wright, Liz Berry, Daljit Nagra, Harry Josephine Giles, Hampshire laureate Nazneen Ahmed Pathak and many more.
Key events are BSL interpreted, and 11 of the 25 events are completely free to attend.
