Events suitable for the whole family are never hard to come by in Sussex thanks to a range of tourist hot-spots including a national park, two cities, Brighton and Chichester, and a selection of fantastic seaside resorts. We've got hundreds of exciting events taking place all year round for residents, day-trippers and visitors on a South East staycation to enjoy.

What's on in Sussex this weekend?

To find out what's on in Sussex today or this weekend, use the search box above to narrow down your required date. Families on a budget can look out for the many free events taking place, while there's plenty of fun activities for kids to do whether it's during the holidays or for a weekend break.

Exciting entertainment takes place all year round with an enviable supply of themed festivals. There's no shortage of food and drink festivals in Sussex, including the Hastings Seafood and Wine Festival or the Worthing Food Festival both taking place in September this year. With ideal growing conditions, the region is littered with award-winning vineyards, giving a unique flavour to any event.

June is festivals month in Brighton with the Brighton Fringe Festival, a celebration of the arts within the city, including live music, comedy, virtual tours and diverse culture, all brought together in a Brighton party style. There's always something going on making it a popular destination for a day trip from London.

Sussex also offers a rich mix of cultural, heritage and outdoor events including the famous Battle of Hastings re-enactment (Autumn) in 1066 Country, Eastbourne Walking Festival (Sept 21), The South Downs Tour cycling Fontwell Park Racecourse (July 21) and other outdoor events across the South Downs National Park, along with a host of family-friendly events offered in the towns of Eastbourne, Worthing, Littlehampton, Arundel and Bognor Regis, meaning you're never far from an event guaranteed to give you a warm welcome.

If you're looking for what's on when it's raining, the geography of Sussex means its easy to switch the day at the beach, for a trip to a local castle, museum or gallery, all of which have a calendar of seasonal events to entertain children and adults alike.
