Pattern & Progress: RCA Graduate Tori McLean Unveils First Solo Exhibition at The Arc, Winchester
Following her recent completion of the MA Print programme at the Royal College of Art, Winchester-based artist Tori McLean presents her first solo exhibition, Pattern & Progress, at City Space, The Arc, Winchester, from 18 December to 1 February.
Featuring over seventy printed works on wood, silk, glass, paper and cloth, McLean's work is shown alongside handcrafted furniture from the renowned Edward Barnsley Workshop, creating a striking dialogue between contemporary printmaking and the enduring legacy of the Arts and Crafts movement.
Pattern & Progress is a vibrant and visually rich exploration of the relationship between tradition and innovation. Celebrating the natural world, decorative design and the integrity of materials, McLean reimagines Arts and Crafts values through the lens of twenty-first-century printmaking. Curated by Hampshire Cultural Trust's Kirsty Rodda, the exhibition sits in conversation with the Trust's major show Beauty of the Earth: The Art of May, Jane and William Morris.
Through motifs, repetition and shifts between analogue and digital processes, McLean invites visitors to look more closely at surface, pattern and the handmade, revealing how beauty emerges through subtle transformations in both material and technique.
Private View
A public Private View will be held on Wednesday 17 December, 5.45–7.30pm.
Tickets are free but must be reserved via kirsty.rodda@hampshireculturaltrust.org.uk
