Modern Makers Collective returns for the Yattendon Winter Market, a festive weekend on November 25th and 26th. The theme this year is Celebrating Modern Craft, and the carefully curated group of exceptional local makers reflects this. Each maker explores their craft in a unique perspective, from using traditional techniques applied in new and fresh ways through to innovative ideas pushing the boundaries. An outstanding event, the market celebrates the varied and inspiring nature of Modern Craft.
Visitors will be treated to the delights of makers such as Andrew Hazelden with his beautiful tin glaze and lusterware pottery decorated with beautiful hand painted shapes. Artist Freya Barton will be exhibiting her vibrant paintings and interior pieces that will bring joy into every home. Yvette Phillips is another talented artist who will be showcasing her work, Yvette's exquisite embroidery art is inspired by nature and is a wonder to see.
Amongst the talented craftspeople taking part in the market we are lucky enough this year to have 2 stars of the BBC show Make It at Market. It is a fantastic opportunity to see and buy the work of glass artist Emmy Palmer and wood turner Lucinda Goulden who were both featured on the BBC show. As well as familiar favourite makers like leather bag craftswoman Victoria Baker, we are thrilled to be introducing some new members of the Collective. These include the exciting jeweller Von W, who uses raw textures and precious materials to create unique heirloom jewellery, and Jynsym Ong who fires her ceramics using wood-firing, resulting in surfaces with nuance and wonderful variety.
With the festive season around the corner a trip to the christmas-tree growing village of Yattendon is a must. The makers will be showcasing their hand-crafted work between 10am and 4pm, entrance is only £2 and is in support of Yattendon Village School. Make a day of it at one of the many fine lunch spots or beautiful walks, and return home laden with handmade delights. Discover everything from velvety smooth woodturning, flawless fine jewellery and sumptuous silk weaving to exquisite ceramics, lustrous glass sculpture and much much more.
