The fascinating free Heritage Open Days return this September across South East England.

In Reading, Berkshire discover a host of heritage open day events, behind the scenes tours, guided walks, church open days and talks to get involved in from the 11th - 20th September 2026. 

This celebration of the fantastic history and heritage around the town of Reading offers visitors and local residents alike the chance to explore what's on their doorstep. Spaces are limited to some events, so book early to avoid disppointment.

  • New for 2026 Tudor to Civil War Reading Walkabout - 17th & 19th September - 10am & 10.30am - Pre-booking required
  • Tour of Foxhill House at the University's Whiteknights campus - 11am & 12.30pm - 13th September -  Pre-booking required

  • Brock Keep - 19th & 20th September, 11am - 5pm
  • Basildon Park - 14th - 18th September, 10am - 5pm

  • Guided Tour of Reading Old Cemetery - 19th September - 11am & 13.30pm - Pre-booking required

  • Saint Giles Church Reading - 12th & 19th September - 10.30am - 3.30pm 

  • Celebrating 100 Years: University of Reading Museums and Collections - 20th September - 11am & 12.00am - Pre-booking required
