Whether you’re enjoying a deliciously seasonal meal in the dining area, mingling with friends at the bar, or simply enjoying the coastal breeze in the outdoor seating area, you’ll experience a truly soothing trip away at this gorgeous pub with rooms. The Ropemaker welcomes locals, families, and travellers alike to experience Emsworth for its unique character and undeniable charm. The town’s allure extends beyond its charming streets, visitors can also engage in an array of activities from pleasure boating to exploring its vibrant art galleries.
Visitors can delve into the town’s rich heritage at The Emsworth Museum in North Street or wander one of the many stunning coastal walks that surround this historic town, all boasting breathtaking views.
At the end of a long day exploring the coastal delights of the town, dig into a deliciously seasonal meal, washed down with a refreshing local brew at The Ropemaker and relax in one of the many sumptuous seating areas in the bar and dining areas. Well behaved dogs are very welcome in the bar, courtyard and a number of our bedrooms and the treat jar is always stocked. Please let the team know if you are bringing a four legged friend along so they can reserve you a table within a dog friendly area. The bar and outside seating area are all dog-friendly, as are a number of our bedrooms. Please note that there is no lift on our premises but staff are very happy to assist.
From Portsmouth:
o Take the A27 eastbound toward Chichester.
o Exit at Emsworth (A259) and follow signs to Emsworth.
o Turn right onto Havant Road (A259) toward Emsworth Town Center.
o The Ropemaker will be on your right after approximately 0.5 miles.
From Chichester:
o Take the A27 westbound toward Portsmouth.
o Exit at Emsworth (A259) and follow signs for Emsworth.
o Head left onto Havant Road (A259) toward Emsworth Town Center.
o Continue on Havant Road for about 0.5 miles; the Ropemaker will be on your right.
Parking:
o There may be some roadside parking nearby, but check for local restrictions.
o Alternatively, you can use Emsworth’s public parking facilities and walk to the Ropemaker.
Train:
- Take a train to Emsworth Station. Emsworth has regular connections from both Portsmouth and Chichester.
- From Emsworth Station, it's approximately a 15-minute walk (0.7 miles):
- Exit the station and head south toward North Street.
- Turn left onto North Street, then right onto the A259/Havant Road.
- Follow Havant Road until you reach The Ropemaker on your right.
Bus:
- Buses between Chichester and Portsmouth frequently travel via Emsworth.
- Look for services that stop along Havant Road or near Emsworth Square.
- The closest stop is on Havant Road, near the pub.
